Senior School Weekly Sports Bulletin
Well done to everyone who took part in our recent fixtures and extra-curricular sports. Some notable mentions in the last week include:
- Strong performances against Dollar Academy by Girls’ 1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI and 4th XI, S2A, S2B, S1A and S1B Hockey.
- Senior School Cross Country took part in the National Cross-Country Championships at Barlbardie Park, Bathgate and had several strong results against a competitive field.
- Boys’ 1st XV Rugby drew against the High School of Glasgow 21-21, in a strong performance, and Boys S1A Rugby had a superb win on the road in Glasgow (36-19).
- Layla Wilson S5 represented U18 East of Scotland Rugby in the SRU regionals last.
- Boys’ S3 Basketball won against North Berwick High School (58-20).
- Boys’ tennis – LTA YR 11-13 competition with Merchiston, Clifton Hall and George Watson’s College. Our team lost out to Merchiston and to Clifton Hall, in a tie break, but defeated Watson’s in straight sets, finishing 3rd in the group.
- Girls’ tennis – LTA YR 11-13 competition with Hutcheson’s Grammar School and George Watson’s College. Some excellent tennis on display and the girls played brilliantly to win against both teams, meaning they topped their group and progress through to the next knock out stage of the competition.

- S1A Girls Hockey playing in the S1 East District Schools Tournament on Friday 2 Feb at Edinburgh Academy.
- GHS Curlers who are taking part in the Avantis Cup Round I.
- Girls’ 1st VI Hockey compete in the U18 National Indoor Finals at Stirling, Sunday 4 Feb
- All our weekend fixtures- Rugby against The Glasgow Academy and Hockey teams against Edinburgh Academy.
- Boys’ 1st XI Hockey play SMC in the Scottish Schools Plate Semi Final on Tuesday 6 Feb.
- S3 and S4-6 Rowing participating in the Strathclyde University Head Race in Glasgow.
- Boys’ S1/2 Football against Fettes College.
- Boys’ U14 Basketball against Leith Academy.
